Our History

Bilbrey Funeral Home began in 1914 as part of the Bilbrey Hardware and Bilbrey Furniture Store on Main Street in Crossville. Italy Bilbrey operated the funeral services as part of the family business, reflecting the early tradition of combining furniture sales with funeral care.

Following his marriage to Mildred Bilbrey, Lewis Bohannon assumed leadership of the business and relocated the funeral home to its current location on East Adams Street. Lewis remained actively involved in the funeral home until his passing in 1999, continuing the family’s commitment to serving local families with care and integrity.

In the 1970s, Frank Bilbrey Bohannon returned home after serving in the United States Air Force to operate the funeral home. His leadership helped guide Bilbrey Funeral Home through decades of service and change. Today, the funeral home continues its long tradition of caring for families while honoring the values on which it was founded.
