Stephen J. Sanford

Stephen J. Sanford, age 67, of Crossville, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 1, 2025.

Stephen was born on May 30, 1958, in Morgantown, West Virginia. He is the son of the late Okey Sanford and Lila (Hylton) Sanford.

Stephen was a retired Electrical Engineer from Methanex plant in Geismar, Louisiana. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1979. Stephen loved golfing, boating, traveling, and modifying his Mustang GT. Stephen loved to read and was an avid sports fan. He loved the Kentucky Wildcats. Most importantly, Stephen was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 25 years, Sue; daughters, Torri Winstead (husband Mike), Brittany Childress (husband Zack); son, Wesley Sanford; stepson, Wesley Meeks (wife Heather); grandchildren, Madilyn Booth, Logan, Morgan, and Kaylan Meeks; sisters, Jennifer Williams (husband Rick), Teresa Scott (husband Barry), Kimberly Sanford, and Caryn Seney (husband Rod; and maternal uncle, Howard Hylton (wife Belinda).

Stephen is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lewis Lanier Hylton (wife Ethel); paternal grandparents, Okey Homer Sanford, Sr. (wife Lechtie); and a host of extended family and friends.
