Samuel Profitt

Samuel Douglas Profitt, age 88, of Crossville, TN, passed away on October 8, 2026, at Cumberland Medical Center.

Mr. Profitt was born on January 20, 1938, in Fonde, KY, son of the late Porter Chesley Proffitt and Ottie Mae Proffitt.

Samuel served our country in the United States Army. He was also a carpenter and farmer. Samuel enjoyed horses and gardening, but most of all being "Pa Doug" to all the grandkids, great grandkids, friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Profitt, son, Samuel Douglas Profitt, Jr. (Kim), daughter, Renee Taylor (James); grandchildren, Tiffany Lewis (Chris), Katherine Phipps (Jeff), Chaney Dyle (Michael) Hannah Jolley (Tyler) and Colton Profitt (Kylie); great grandchildren, Alec Lewis, Grayson Lewis, Aeryn Lewis, Brianna Phipps (Cody), Wyatt Phipps, Allie Phipps, Dylan Dyle, Easton Dyle, Canaan Dyle, Andi Dyle, Gunner Jolley, Kinder Jolley, and Lily Ann Profitt.

In addition to his parents, Samuel preceded in death by his brothers, Charles JV Proffitt, Royal Proffitt, Homer Proffitt, and Wendell Dale Proffitt; sisters, Juanita Proffitt, Corean Davis, and Geraldine Erskin; and grandson, William Murray Austin.

A Celebration of Life will be held for the family at a later date.
