Robert G. Ellis (“Bob”), age 73, of Crossville, TN, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on July 28, 2026, at Cumberland Medical Center.
Bob was born on October 15, 1952, in Cortland, NY, the son of Charles Robert Ellis and Lomeda Ellis.
He served in the United States Army. Before retirement, Bob spent many years in the radio business and as a salesman supplying fish to cruise ships. His favorite job was dealing poker at The Mirage in Las Vegas, where he worked for 15 years.
Bob had a wide variety of hobbies and interests, including competitive backgammon, where he won several tournaments, 3-cushion billiards, poker, golf, bowling, as well as any and all sports. He enjoyed road trips with his wife, Lea, playing trivia, board and card games, and solving and creating crossword puzzles, including two crossword puzzles published in the Los Angeles Times.
Bob had a quick wit, a quirky sense of humor, and a laugh that was contagious to all who had the pleasure of his company. He was a kind, gentle, and loving man who will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Marlea Ellis; his daughter, Sarah Patterson (Jimmy); his nieces, Lori Metcalf and Heather Suburu (Ryan); and his great-niece, Evelyn Suburu.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carole Metcalf.
Per Bob’s request, no memorial services will be held.
