Peggy Sue Evans, age 86, of Crossville, TN, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026 at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, TN.
Peggy was born on November 7, 1939 in Dripping Springs, TN to Author O. and Christine Reeves Kilgore.
Peggy was a faithful member, serving Oaklawn Baptist Church in the kitchen, Sunday School, choir, VBS, and so many other areas for more than 50 years. She worked for Mitchell’s Drug Store as a Pharmacy Tech for 53 years. Peggy also served her community through the Association for Family and Community Education, UT Extension more than 50 years. She served her county through the Election Commission, and so many other ways. Peggy’s fingerprints are on countless lives as an example of a giving, servant’s heart.
Peggy loved crafts and sewing, quilting, cooking, and she dearly loved to shop. Her signature dishes of fried rice, little biscuits, pies, and other delicious dishes will surely be missed.
Peggy is survived by her daughters, Sandra Faye Kilgore and Lisa Pearl Evans, grandchildren, Christopher Davis (Stephanie), Caitlin Lawson (Josh), Stacie Cox (Hayden), great-grandchildren, Joseph Brannum (Summer), Delyn Brannum, Adesina Blakenship (Brayden), Jace Lawson, Logan D. Cox, Dutton W. Cox, Lena L. Lawson, sister, Margaret McNeal, brothers, Eddie Kilgore (Brenda), Joe Kilgore (Carol), Dallas Kilgore, Jerry Kilgore, Ronnie Kilgore (Martha), and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Larry S. Evans, sons Timothy Lynn Kilgore, Larry Wayne “Wino” Evans, sister Glenda Segars, brothers Bobby Kilgore, Danny Kilgore, niece Donna Sue Jones, nephews Larry Ellisor and Robbie Ellisor.
Visitation will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home 12:00-2:00pm, funeral at 2:00pm on Monday, July 27, 2026 with burial to follow at Mayland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bilbrey Funeral Home to aid with expenses or to Wyndridge Rehabilition Center.
