Hiram, GA

Nancy Brown, age 84, of Hiram, Georgia formerly of Crossville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 15, 1942, the daughter of the late George Franklin Shutley and the late Cleo "Cappy" Satterfield Shutley.

Nancy was a woman whose life was defined by her love for her family and her deep commitment to her church, Pine Valley Baptist, and her prior church in Tennessee, Cornerstone Baptist. Her heart was truly reflected in her dedicated card ministry, which she passionately maintained. Known for sending cards to celebrate all occasions, she kept meticulous records of family and church members' special moments, ensuring that no one was ever forgotten. Those who assisted her in this endeavor affectionately became known as her personal assistants.

An avid gardener, Nancy enjoyed nurturing both flower and vegetable gardens, bringing beauty and sustenance to her home. Her spirit of adventure also led her to travel, embracing new experiences and creating lasting memories. As the family historian, she diligently researched her lineage and heritage, preserving the stories of her ancestors for future generations.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was also preceded in death by her husband, William Sidney Brown; her grandson, Eric Kuemmel; her sister, Valerie Knight, and her brother, George Franklin "Butch" Shutley, Jr.

Nancy leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Beverly Thompson; her sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and David Bolden; her grandson, AJ Kuemmel; several nieces, nephews and numerous special friends.
