Larue Helen Mathena

Larue (Jackie) Helen Shorter Mathena, age 95 of Crossville, TN entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 24, 2023, at a local hospital. She was born July 22, 1928, in Princeton, W. Va. to parent’s Orion Owen Shorter and Elsie Price Shorter, both preceded her in death. Larue is survived by her daughter, Deitra Hinkle, husband Terry Hinkle; Son, Ricky Mathena, wife Patty Mathena, Son-in-Law, Mitchell Childers; 7 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Larue is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Mathena; daughter, Debra K. Childers; sister, Edith Stalnaker; sister Willie Mae Shorter Bowman. Larue loved reading, crocheting and family gatherings. She was a kind, devoted and loving Mother and wife and a wonderful friend to all who knew her. She touched so many lives in her life and was admired and loved by all. Her relationship with Jesus Christ was the center of her life. She will be extremely missed by all who knew her, especially her family. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023, 12:00 PM at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Bldg. 2, Beckley, W. Va.
