Kenneth M. Trotter, age 81, of Crossville, Tennessee, passed away on December 29, 2023, at Cumberland House. Mr. Trotter was born on January 30, 1942, in Bono, Arkansas, son of the late Grover Marion Trotter and Ruby Irene (Songer) Trotter. Kenneth served in the United States Army with the 150th Transportation Company in Mannheim, Germany. He drove transport trucks with supplies for his fellow soldiers to support the war effort in Vietnam. In Germany he gained his lifelong friend and bonus brother, Rusty Sartin, who coincidentally was also from Ken's hometown in Arkansas. Ken retired from Kroger after 33 years of working night shift, altering his sleep schedule for the rest of his life. Prior to his membership at the Crossville Church of Christ, he was a long time member of the Cold Springs Church of Christ where he served as a song leader, Bible class teacher and youth events leader. He always prioritized leading his family in faith and knowledge of Jesus and the salvation promised to those who make Him their Lord. Kenneth grew up in the cotton fields of Arkansas and as a youth traveled with his family across several states during harvest seasons working in anything from blueberry fields in Michigan to orange groves in Florida. He never lost his love for gardening and was known for growing the best green beans, tomatoes, squash and blackberries on the plateau. When it wasn't garden season, it was gun season and come fall you could find Ken heading to the woods with his hunting buddies and into his tree stand hoping to bag a big buck. He is survived by his wife Linda Jenkins Trotter, his daughter Pam Trotter McCoy (Darren), his granddaughter Elizabeth Trotter Sheets (John), daughter-in-law Anita Jones Trotter, and his sister Marcella Trotter Martin (Wayne). He has numerous loved nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law from both the Trotter family and the large extended Pendergrass family, who have always shown him love as one of their own. He is also survived by Linda's children Cathy Sheffield, Jennifer Selby and grandchildren Ashlin Selby and Gavin Selby. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Pendergrass Trotter, his son Marlin Trotter and brother Eugene Trotter. Funeral Services will be held at the Crossville Church of Christ on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 6:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM prior to the service. The burial will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Pendergrass Cemetery. Arrangements and Care provided by Bilbrey Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
