Karen Sue McCabe, age 78, of Monterey, TN, passed away at her home on February 12, 2026.
Mrs. McCabe was born on November 27, 1947, in Fort Worth, TX, daughter of the late Guy Devere Cantwell and Helen Marie (Slaughter) Cantwell.
She was a devoted homemaker and mother. Karen dedicated her life to her family. She homeschooled all 3 of her children for much of their schooling. Karen kept her family well fed with her amazing cooking. She was very active in church. She with her husband were Care Group leaders. Karen also taught Sunday School and was active in the church choir. She was involved in and led Praise and Worship at church for many years. She wrote many plays for church, short stories and co-wrote workbooks for Bible Studies. Karen worked side jobs as a secretary being well saught after wherever she went. Most of all she was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord with all of her heart. Her dedication to prayer and having a heart for the Lord were more than an inspiration, they helped carry her family through many tough times. She lived a life for the Lord and always inspired others in their walk with God. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
She is survived by husband, Darrell McCabe; daughter, Shannon Beaty; son, Shaun McCabe (Heather); grandchildren, Tyler McCabe, Austin Beaty, Gabriella Beaty, Janae Kearns (Lee), Tristan Jones, Jeffrey Lozoya, Jeremiah Lozoya, Ethan Lozoya, Brianna Lozoya, Natalie Lozoya, Makayla Krivak, Sandy Krivak, Sabrina Scott, and Ashely Lewis; great grandchildren, Atlantis Kearns, Lee Kearns, Jr., and Oliver Beaty; sister, Elaine Waller; niece, Jenny Blumberg; nephews, Mike Waller and Robbie Waller.
In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her daughter, Katie Krivak.
Funeral Service will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Saturday, February 21, 2026, 4:00 PM. Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will take place at East Tennesee State Veteran's Cemetery on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM (EST).
