John Orban, Jr.

John Orban, Jr. entered into God’s hands on August 8, 2026.

He was born on November 5, 1949, to John Orban and Kathy Stout in Phoenix, Arizona.

John lived in California but moved to Pennsylvania where he graduated from high school. After that he joined the Army. John was in the states for a while then did a tour in Vietnam.

When he came home from Vietnam he married Barbara Heller. After he was discharged from the military they moved to California. He was reinstated to his job with the federal civil service. Both of their children were born in San Diego.

While living there he earned his Associate of Arts degree in Electronics Mechanic test Instrument.

Being a former surfer he enjoyed taking his kids to the beach. John was also a coach for Little League for 2 years.

His job took them to 6 states and Germany. The family experienced different locations, people, and customs.

John retired after 37-1/2 years of government work. John and Barb moved to Crossville in 2005. Then he had time to return to his passion of woodworking. John was a member of the local wood turners club where he served as president for one year.

John is survived by his wife of 56 years, his 2 children Stacy Hummer and Chris Orban; 3 grandsons, Robbie, Johnathan, and Wyatt; 6 sisters; a niece, nephew and several cousins.

Visitation for John Orban, Jr., age 76, of Crossville, TN will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Friday, August 14, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM with Military Honors to follow at 2:30 PM.
