Howard Cecil Coffey

Howard was born in rural Campbell County and passed away peacefully at his son’s home in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Howard is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Cora Evelyn Coffey; father, Fred C. Coffey and mother, Laura Burton Coffey; sister, Grace Albertine, and brothers, Evidirl Coffey, Raymond Coffey, and Charles Coffey.

He is survived by his son, Stephen Coffey; daughter, Cynthia Janssen; son in law, James Janssen all from Crossville. Grandchildren, Melissa Coffey, Justus Hall, and Megann Hall; and great granddaughter, Gabrielle Coffey.

At the height of the Great Depression Howard went to live at Beulah Mountain Christian Academy. Howard was in WWII veteran with the Army that was involved in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany. Howard ran the Gulf gas station in Rockwood, Tennessee and then went to Detroit Michigan and worked for several car factories. He returned to Kingston, Tennessee where he owned Lakeside Golf Club. After selling that, he worked at Emory Golf Club as the superintendent in Harriman, Tennessee. After retiring he then moved to Atlanta, Georgia to work for his son’s landscaping company of 10 years.

Howard was always a fisherman, golfer, and he loved his family. The most humble person who loved his Lord and didn’t have any enemies. He took great pleasure in helping others.

Funeral Service will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home of Friday, August 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM with burial to follow at Green Acres Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 PM prior to the service.
