George Allen Lantry

George Lantry, 98, of Fairfield Glade, TN, passed away on June 12, 2025 at Uplands Village Rehab Unit in Pleasant Hill, TN.

George was born in Terre Haute, IN on July 29, 1926 to Walter and Genevieve Lantry. The family soon moved to Detroit, MI. George attended Cass Tech High School in Detroit until he was drafted into WWII as a Tec 4 Radio Operator. While home on leave the following December, he married his sweetheart, Irene Kay, and remained by her side for over 71 years.

George and Irene retired to Fairfield Glade in 1989 after his long career in the advertising business. He was an avid golfer, having played in many leagues both before and after retirement. He read almost anything he could get his hands on and his love of “Jeopardy” and crossword puzzles kept him sharp.

George is loved and remembered by his daughters, Erin (Chris), of Fairfield Glade, and Susan of Armuchee, GA, his six grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Genevieve, his brothers, Walter Jr. and Gerald, his beloved wife, Irene, his son, Bryan Sr. and his grandson, Jonathan.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Fairfield Glade Assisted Living and his nurses at Quality Home Health for their care and kindness these last years.
