Elaine Miller Kirk

Elaine “Ellie” Elizabeth (Robinson) Miller Kirk, age 63, of Pleasant Hill, TN, passed away peacefully at home on August 28, 2024. Born on October 31, 1960, in Syracuse, NY, Ellie was the first child of four, born to Evan and Linda (Bergey) Robinson. Evan worked as an electrical engineer for General Electric, and following a brief residency in Baltimore, MD, where Ellie’s sister Laurie was born, the family moved to Ormond Beach, Florida in 1965, where her two younger siblings, Tom and Becky, were born and where the family put down roots. Ellie graduated from Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach in 1978 and immediately began working as a legal secretary for the law office of Richard Every, which later became Every and Stack when Melvin Stack joined the practice. Ellie continued working for this law office for her entire career, until her death. She also worked in the Pleasant Hill Post Office for several years. In November 1978 Ellie married Ron Padgett, a marriage which sadly ended in divorce, although Ellie and Ron remained friends until her passing. In April 1996, Ellie married the love of her life, I.D. Miller Jr., and shortly after their marriage they moved to Pleasant Hill, TN, soon followed by both of Ellie’s sisters and their parents, who bought adjoining properties. After I.D.’s passing in 2013, Ellie met James Kirk, and they were married in December 2015. Ellie and Jim enjoyed working together as co-owners and partners in their business, Done-Rite Upholstery, until Jim’s death in January 2024. Ellie was known for her steadfast faith in Jesus, her kindness, her gentle and quiet spirit, her wisdom and her calm strength in the face of adversity, her passionate love for Bible study, quilting and other needlework, reading, fishing, and bowling; and she cherished spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Evan M. Robinson; her husband, I.D. Miller Jr.; her husband, James F. Kirk; brothers-in-law, David Heiden and Eric Paulsen; and sisters-in-law Eva Smith and Myrtice Didrence. She is survived by her mother, Linda Robinson; sisters, Laurie Paulsen and Becky Heiden; brother, Tom (Heather) Robinson; sister-in-law, Kathy Miller; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Heiden, Dwight Heiden, Boyd Heiden, Rose Heiden, Lily Heiden, and Drew Robinson; stepchildren, John (Kim) Miller, Bonnie Miller, and Tony (Jessica) Miller; step- grandchildren, Nicole Miller, Brandon (Hiliary) Miller, Shawn (Kelli) Scott, Brooke Miller (Jacob Smith), and Ashlyn Miller; and nine step-great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Pomona Methodist Church, with Pastor Donald Haston officiating.
