Crossville

David Welch Rollins, lovingly known as “Ducky,” passed away peacefully at his home in Crossville, Tennessee, on June 11, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 83 years old.

Born on October 21, 1941, in Charleston, West Virginia, David lived a full and vibrant life marked by hard work, kindness, and a deep love for his family, friends, and community.

He served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1968, and was a proud veteran. His time in the military shaped his strong sense of duty, humility, and gratitude—values he carried with him throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Loretta Sinclair Rollins, with whom he shared a lifetime of adventure and love. Together, they raised two children, Donald Rollins (Kristen Arnold) and Elizabeth Austen (Darrel Brock), and built a strong, close-knit family. David was a proud grandfather to Madison Cubello (Michael), Bryr Austen, Michel Brock, Zachary Rollins, and Zoe Rollins, and a great-grandfather to Abigail Cubello, Michael Cubello Jr., and David Cubello.

Over the years, David wore many hats—from working as a waiter at a country club in his youth to a machinist at Union Carbide, and later, as the owner of a successful drywall business in Cape Coral, Florida, during the 1970s and ’80s. He eventually found his way working in healthcare, serving as a chief dialysis technician in Miami and then in Fort Myers, Florida, with Fresenius, where he worked until his retirement.

David had a love for fishing, soccer, and in his later years, golf—where he made many lifelong friends on the course. He was a generous and compassionate man who never hesitated to lend a hand or an ear. While living in Cape Coral, he coached children’s soccer and left a lasting impression on many young lives. In addition to his coaching in the sport of soccer, he was a certified referee in the state of Florida where he refereed countless games.

In retirement, David and Loretta took to the open road in their RV, traveling across the country, visiting national parks, and eventually stepping foot in every U.S. mainland state. Their adventures were a true reflection of their spirit—curious, joyful, and always on the move together.

To know David was to be lucky. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
