Bruce Frederick Takes (Yankee), 85, of Sparta, passed away on November 5th, 2026 at Cumberland Medical Center. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on October 10, 1941, he was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mildred Takes of Pleasant Hill, TN.

Bruce was an avid train collector, a loving husband, and an amazing father and grandfather who never turned away anyone in need. Band Boosters, Boy Scouts, and Rainbows for Girls were only a few of the places where Bruce shared his time and his talents. Family was his priority. Sunday dinners around the table, and Saturday morning breakfasts consisting of his famous eggs and potatoes ensured family time filled with love and laughter.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Takes of Sparta, his sister Janice Antkiewicz, and his best friend Lanny Beaman, both of Michigan. He leaves behind a legacy of family, including his children: Pamela and (Christopher) Strzalkowski, Deborah and (Vincent) Laframboise, John and (Maria) Takes, Sandra and (James) Franklin, Amanda Dickenson and (Brian McGinniss). His lineage continues with 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Sharing in the family legacy are his nephews Michael and Stephen Antkiewicz, and his Beaman nieces Cindi, Joy, Barbara, Kim & Sherry.

The family would like to especially thank Terri Stewart for her dedication and support.

In accordance with his wishes, Bruce will be cremated. A private Celebration of Life will be held by his family on Bon Air Mountain on November 26th, 2026, to honor his memory.
