Alfred Laverne Brooks was born on July 31, 1953, to John C. Brooks and Jeareal Dean Gates in Troup County, Georgia. He was the 7th of 10 children. Al graduated from Suncoast High School in Riviera Beach, Florida and was accepted at the University of Florida, home of the Gators. Al had a passion for photography and landscaping, which led him into a career where he was able to cultivate beauty throughout his lifetime. He eventually settled down in Crossville, Tennessee. Alfred was called home on October 24, 2025.
He is predeceased by his parents and brothers, Tyronne, Grady, Terry, John, Everette, and Phil Brooks. He is survived by brothers, Michael (Laverne) and Douglas (Louise) Brooks, his sister Patricia Faye Brooks and many nieces and nephews. Left to also cherish his memory are his children, Erica Felton, Joy (Josh) Braselton, Alfred Brooks Jr., and Heather (Blum) Desravins along with grandchildren Aleyah, Alise, Dylan, Blum and Damian. He leaves behind a loving and large family in Crossville including his partner of 25 years, Patricia Kelly, her children Debra Willis, Brian Kelly, grandchildren, Jonathon, Jake, and Jesse Willis and great-grands Urijah, Declan, Bentley, Karalyne, Madalyne and Lydia whom lovingly called him "Papa Al." He will be remembered and missed by all.
Memorial Service will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 3:00 PM. Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 prior to the service.
